Finally, we get Deathstroke

For many of us, Ben Affleck’s latest Instagram video has people buzzing for all of the right reasons.  It is basically confirmation that Deathstroke, everyone’s favorite mercenary, will be coming to the DC Extended Universe.  Rumors are going around as to how he will be featured, with the most prominent guess being that he will be the main antagonist in 2019’s The Batman, directed by and starring Affleck.

Assuming that he will be the villain in The Batman, Deathstroke is a great choice.  If you are unfamiliar with the character, he first appeared as a Teen Titans villain in the 1980s.  He has appeared as a villain in many DC properties, most recently as a villain in Arrow and in the Batman: Arkham video games.  Deathstroke’s inclusion is important; it shows that the DCEU isn’t going to reuse old villains (for now, anyway), and Deathstroke is one of Batman’s more interesting nemeses.  It will be interesting to see how the Dark Knight faces off against this mercenary.  Expect Justice League to set that fight up.

Casting the mercenary is a challenge.  You need someone quite stoic, but driven and able to convey those emotions from behind a mask.  Tom Hardy in my opinion is a shoe-in for the role, but I’ll challenge myself more than that.  If I were in charge of casting Deathstroke, I would get Oscar Isaac on the phone immediately, but that is just my opinion.

Beer Can Chicken… FOR AMERICA

For Independence day, I decided to make the most American dish I could think of- beer can chicken.  It is a relatively simple thing to make, which is partially why I chose it for my first video in my new series, The Adult Table.  Recipe for my spice rub is as follows:

  • 2 tbs salt
  • 2 tbs white sugar
  • 2 tbs brown sugar
  • 1 tbs black pepper
  • cayenne pepper, to taste
  • chili powder, to taste
  • red pepper flakes, to taste
  • chili powder, to taster
  • granulated garlic, to taste
  • granulated onion, to taste
  • thyme, to taste

There is a lot of leeway in the rub; I use a lot of pepper because I like it hotter, but if you don’t, feel free to use less.  I used Budweiser for the beer, seeing as it says ‘America’ on the can and today being Independence Day. Remember, the chicken takes 75-90 minutes on the grill; you want an internal temperature of 165 at the thickest point.

Hope you liked this video, let me know in the comments what you think, and don’t forget to subscribe to my channel!  Happy Fourth, and remember to drink responsibly!

6/29- Update and upcoming posts

Morning everyone, just thought I’d give a quick update and tell you all what to expect in the next couple of days.

First of all, I would like to thank each and every one of you that has clicked on here.  It really means a lot to me that people are reading my words.  In the future, it would be much appreciated if you left comments; I do not care what they say, but I’d like the chance to interact with you all.  I know a lot of you are from different countries, and getting the chance to interact with people of different cultures and hearing their perspectives on things is always a treat.

Anyways, this morning I got my tickets to see The Purge: Anarchy tomorrow night, so expect a review of that.  I’m planning on making a video review of it to put on my YouTube channel, but I will also right a worded one as well.

Expect at least one more video this weekend as well.  Of all things, it is going to be a cooking video.  Other than that, stay tuned for my other musings on various subjects.  Thank you all again, and keep an eye out for my future posts!
